04 Why a New Category?

Existing Product and Service Categories Haven’t Delivered 

A new product and service category is needed because existing solutions in the categories of collaboration, decision support, process modeling, project planning and related categories:

1)  have not produced a highly effective, widely usable solution to this major bottleneck in innovation and IT.

2) do not produce the simultaneous combined results of knowledge processing and process engineering.

3) have absorbed and diffused the market’s attention without producing a strong focus on the whole problem of long cycles of meetings and the associated cost, risk, error, delay, frustration, conflict, stress, etc.

“Collaborative solutions development” will extend, integrate and support the application of tools and methods in these other categories. At the same time, solutions in these other categories will continue have greater depth and detail in their particular areas.

However, a highly effective, widely usable solution for collaborative solutions development will be something new, something that is not being generally supplied now, something that won’t fit into these existing categories.

In order to:
  - be effective in getting the market’s attention,
  - help refocus and energize the market’s interest in a major opportunity for improved performance, and
  - quickly produce new results on a broad scale,

“collaborative solutions development” must be a new product and service category.
